A Baby of Many Names

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I always have a lot of nicknames for people. For example I haven't called my best friends by their real names in years (Toddman, JB, DB, and B). Angie (aka "Bird") also has the nickname gene. So between the two of us (as well as some help from friends and relatives) little Steve has ended up with a lot of nicknames. We thought that we would record them in a blog so that we won't forget all of the wierd names that we called him when he was a baby.

  • Stevie

  • Mr. McQuivers (his very first nickname, because his bottom chin shook when he cried in the hospital...and still does)

  • Young one

  • Young

  • Mr. Teevers

  • Baby Teevie (Cousin Daniel came up with this one)

  • Sonny Jim

  • Sonny

  • Jim

  • Jimbo

  • Little

  • Mr. Burps n' Farts (He got this one honestly)

  • Mr. Big n' Smart

  • Timmy (Aunt Mary)

If any of you feel inspired by any of Steve's pictures to add to our list of nicknames please feel free!

Good times with Grandma D and Grandpa Leo

My Grandma D and Grandpa Leo came to visit me in Iowa this weekend. We've been having a great time. Today Grandma D strapped on the Baby Bjorn and carried me around while Mom and Dad did some grocery shopping. I just snoozed.

As of tonight they are not only my grandparents, but my very first babysitters! They watched me while Mom and Dad went out to see the new Harry Potter movie. I didn't give em' too much trouble.

That's all for now, keep checkin' my blog, and keep keepin' it real. You know I am.

--Stevie

Cheese!!

I promised that I would post the first picture I had of Stevie smiling, well here it is! This was taken this morning, just after Stevie woke up. He has been smiling a lot, we just never seem to have the camera around when we see one. They're kind of like UFO's or Sasquatch.

The Blanket That Saved Our Lives

If any of you are thinking about having a baby anytime soon, make sure you get yourself a "Miracle Blanket" like the one that Stevie is modeling in this picture. Here's the link: http://www.babyslumber.com/swaddlingblankets.html This blanket saved our lives. For a while Steve was really having a hard time taking naps, then we started wrapping him up (really tight) in this Miracle Blanket and he just goes right to sleep. Babys don't have a lot of control over their arms and feet, so they hit themselves in the face and don't even know that they are doing it to themselves. These blankets make it so they can't do that. As you can see in the picture Stevie is doing a big yawn, getting ready for a big sleep!

Bathtime Pics

Angie and I have learned that bathtime is one of the best times to get pictures of Steve. We always have to wake him out of a dead sleep to give him a bath and when we wake him up he gives us a lot of funny faces. Steve is a lot like his Daddy when it comes to sleep...when he is in a deep sleep it is almost impossible to wake him up! I even give him extreme flubbers and it does no good. We have noticed an exciting change in Steve over the past couple of days. He has started to look at us and even smile at us! Unfortunately I never seem to have my camera out when he gives us a big grin. But as soon as I do I'll be sure to post that picture. Below is a picture of Steve in his frog towel.

First BMER Ride!

Stevie took his first ride in Daddy's BMER today! The bad picture below was taken through the back window. He really enjoyed the ride. The windows in the BMER are not tinted so he has a much better view of things around him. It is also a pretty loud car and he really likes a lot of noise, for some reason it seems to soothe the little guy. If all goes as planned the BMER will be his someday! It's pretty crazy, the BMER was my first car. It was the car that I was driving when I picked Angie up for our first date...and now we got a baby in the backseat!

Steve's Baptism

Last Sunday, July 8th, I was ordained at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Forrest, IL. It was a wonderful day. After I was ordained I performed the first pastoral act of my ministry which was to baptise my own Son. It was a very special experience...Stevie slept through the whole thing.
Also pictured are his proud momma and his Godmother, Nicolette Frels. (Thanks for the pictures JB)

Baptism Pictures Coming Soon!

Check my picture blog again soon to see photos of my baptism!

First Trip to Pap n' Gram's House

While Stevie was in Forrest he got to spend some quality time with his cousins. This is Emily, his eldest cuz. She's 10, and really loves little Steve. We wish that she didn't live all the way out in Charlotte, North Carolina. She would be a great babysitter.

Stevie's Big ROADTRIP!

Sorry for not keeping up with the blog over the past couple of weeks. We've been moving in and traveling back and forth from Illinois!

Little Stevie has become quite the traveler. He loves life on the road. We have found that he is actually more happy and content when we are on the road than he is when we are at home. Go figure. What can I say, the little man likes to go fast.

I thought that I would post a few pictures from our roadtrip. As I alluded to in a previous blog, Angie and I used to be pretty savy travelers...we once traveled all the way from Pennsylvania to Illinois and only made one stop for gas! Stevie has slowed us down significantly. He needs to stop once every two and a half hours or so to eat and have his pants changed.

Fresh pants...Oooh Yeah!
